Lesbian gardens? Now
there's a name to conjure up some interesting mental
images. Everybody knows what to expect when they visit a
rose garden, herb garden or vegetable garden, but what
might we expect to find in a lesbian garden? A few of our visitors have trouble picturing sensibly dressed lesbians mowing lawns, doing some weeding or watering their vegetables. Which is hardly surprising after all, if you consider what a web search for 'lesbians +pictures' will get you. Isn't it amazing, the number of lesbians who seem to love prancing about wearing nothing but a pair of spike heels and half a ton of make up? Things have improved recently, as more women get connected to the internet, but the pornographers are still spreading their own distorted images of how lesbians prefer to spend their leisure time across cyberspace. To such an extent that the very word 'lesbian' is deemed offensive and inappropriate by most of the blocking and filtering software available to schools and parents. This web site is intended as a counterweight. It has been created for and dedicated to all the wonderful lesbians who enjoy gardening. You'd be surprised how many of us there are, I dare say we outnumber the long-nailed fantasy lesbians in the pornographic sites by a sizable margin as soon as you leave cyberspace. Although for some unfathomable reason there aren't many suckers prepared to send us money in exchange for photographs of our members in sturdy work boots turning the compost. Sad really, because some extra cash would be nice..... These are the home page of the lesbiangardens mailing list. If you haven't already surfed on in disgust, then you may well be the kind of person who will enjoy exploring our site.. |

| Lesbiangardens is a
mailing list for dykes who share a passion for gardening.
When we aren't actually in the garden we like to read
about gardening, and what could be better than reading
letters from other dykes describing their own gardens in
widely different parts of the world, sharing their glee
when something goes right and enjoying a good grumble
when it doesn't. You don't need to know
anything about gardening to join us, you don't even need
to have your own garden. Just so long as you are
female, love womyn and enjoy reading about gardens, pot-plants,
allotments, weather, weeds, bugs, compost, manure and
garden loving dykes all over the world. We have members from many different parts of the
globe. A single days post can take you on a garden tour
of the world. We are in the process of creating a guided
around-the-world
tour of our own gardens. That part of the site
is still under construction, new members and
contributions are welcome. The secret
garden link leads to a part of the web site
that is reserved for members of the lesbian gardens
mailing list only. One small difficulty that arises with such an
international group is that some of us measure
temperature in centigrade, while others still adhere to
the fahreheit scale. |
